Partners with Paws is proud to offer training for in-home helpers and emotional support dogs. We aim to increase the physical and emotional benefits of having an emotional support dog or in-home helper by providing training classes and relationship-building activities.
In-Home Helpers: Task-trained pets that are trained to assist a person with a disability in their home (not in public).
Should an applicant wish to train their dog to assist them in public as well, they should apply to our owner-trainer program.
Emotional Support Dog: An emotional support animal is an animal that provides relief to individuals with psychiatric disabilities through companionship.
*Neither in-home helpers nor emotional support dogs have public access rights. Any participant found to be bringing their dog into non-pet-friendly establishments will be expelled from the program without a refund.
We aim to increase the bond between handlers and their dogs through training. By doing this, we increase the physical and emotional benefits of canine companionships by helping your dog to become a well behaved and involved member of your family- because a misbehaved dog is not emotionally nor physically beneficial.
Emotional support dogs have been proven to significantly reduce anxiety, depression and loneliness.
In-home helper dogs can be trained to respond to their handler’s symptoms and perform tasks such as deep pressure therapy or picking up a dropped item. These tasks will be taught to be performed in-home only. Should an applicant wish to train their dog to assist them in public as well, they should apply to our owner-trainer program.
