Facility dogs are specially trained to provide services and behaviors that will suit the needs of different facilities. These dogs are trained to assist many people as opposed to just one person. Some examples are dogs that provide emotional comfort for children in a special needs classroom, or dogs that provide deep pressure therapy to first responders after a stressful encounter.
Though facility dogs can provide services to many people in a facility, they will still need to be assigned a primary handler who will take on the responsibilities of their care.
Crush is a facility at Milwaukee Police Department. Her handler Ben has put so much work into her and we can't be more proud of this team.
Betsy is a facility dog at Wrightstown Community School District. She attends school with her handler, Jessica, who is the schools resource officer. Betsy and Jessica make the perfect team!
Jordan is a facility dog for Wauwatosa and goes to the different facilities such as fire, police, and health departments.
Aria is a facility dog at Walsworth County Sheriff's Office and spends time with the staff and assists their peer support team. We are so happy to see all that Aria and her handler Detective Richardson are doing.
